Joanne Janicki
I am a licensed Physical Therapist currently employed in a school for special education students for whom I provide therapy in order to enhance the educational opportunities for students that have limited access to their environment. Being a medical professional in the school setting led me to pursue my MAED.
PROFESSIONAL GOALS
- Through continued MOVE international Training, I will inspire teaching staff to share in the philosophy that every child has potential to learn, to move and to actively participate in their school day
- Complete research and publish findings in the field of kinesio taping to demonstrate the effectiveness of taping in the pediatric special education population

I currently work in the school system with multiply impaired students ranging in age from 3-26 years old. This position requires providing therapy directly to students and also working with the teaching staff in the classroom to collaborate programing to meet student’s individualized goals.

I worked on weekends treating orthopedic and neurologically involved patients in the acute care and rehab setting.
MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY EAST LANSING, MICHIGAN APRIL 2003-2006
I worked part time as the PT consultant in the Muscular Dystrophy Clinic and also treating patients in the outpatient orthopedic clinic.

I worked as the supervisor of the Inpatient Physical Therapy Department, which included Physical and Occupational Therapists, assistants, aides, and members of the cardiac rehab team. In this role, I was involved in hiring and training employees. I also prepared budgets, schedules and maintained staffing levels. My responsibilities included organizing in-services and training for staff development and continuing education. Other responsibilities included assessing staff for completing mandatory competencies and completing the employee’s yearly appraisals.
